Holt Public Schools Teacher Arrested

Police are probing the activities of Brian Heath Hannon, who is a transitional kindergarten teacher at Elliot Elementary which is in the Holt Public Schools district. WILX reports that Hannon also had been working as a babysitter through the website Care.com.

A Six-Year-Old Victim Has Come Forward

Hannon was arraigned Tuesday (1/11) in Shiawassee County. Authorities say that his six-year-old victim was not a student in the Holt district.

Holt Superintendent Speaks Out

Our news partner Mid-Michigan Now reports that Hannon has been with the district since 2018. Superintendent David Hornak says the district is prepared to take "appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination" if the district learns that the charges against Hannon are true.

"The teacher will remain on paid administrative leave as we investigate the credibility of the allegations. Since this is an active criminal investigation, all further questions should be directed to law enforcement or the prosecutor’s office in Shiawassee County."

Anyone with additional information about this alleged crime or any other activities that may be connected to Hannon is asked to contact Shiawassee County Sheriff Detective Keith Hansen at (517) 743-3411, ext. 7225, OK2Say at 1-855-565-2729, or the Holt Public Hotline at (517) 699-STOP (7877).

Bond Set

According to Lansing TV station WILX, Hannon's bond has been set at $20,000 and he has been ordered to not have any contact with the victim or with any minor who is not a member of his household.

He is expected to be back in court on Jan. 19.
