Great job, Michigan! We are one of the best charitable givers in the Nation.

According to an article on Mlive and numbers from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the average Michigander donates about 3% of household income to charity. This percentage works out to about $5 billion in donations.

That is wonderful news, and kind of an interesting side note, it seems that people who are considered to be in the low-income bracket seem to give more to charity. On average, about 9% of their income goes to charity, in comparison to people on the high-income end, giving about 3%.
