Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow Rips Opponent For ‘Grooming’ Comments
A speech by Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow on Tuesday (4/19) in Lansing is going viral, as she defended herself from what she calls an attack by a fellow lawmaker.
McMorrow said an email which was a campaign fundraising piece put out by her opponent, GOP State Senator Lana Theis from Brighton, claims that McMorrow wants to 'groom and sexualize' children.
"I didn't expect to wake up yesterday to the news that the senator from the 22nd district had overnight accused me by name of grooming and sexualizing children in an email fundraising for herself," McMorrow began. "So I sat on it for a while wondering 'Why me?' and then I realized 'Because I am the biggest threat to your hollow, hateful scheme."
McMorrow's speech has been viewed more than six million times on Twitter.
How The Attack Against McMorrow Began
Horrified by the Attack
McMorrow tells MSNBC that she was horrified by the attack.
"It was such a vile thing for a mother to say about another mother without any thought as to what the consequences might be," McMorrow says.
McMorrow goes on to say that she is tired of Republican opponents attempting to use Christianity as a way to target people who are marginalized.
