It's called the "COVID-19 Heroes Fund."

Michigan Senator Gary Peters and several other Senators have proposed legislation for the fund, which would give a pay increase for essential workers.

According to the proposal, frontline workers would receive $25,000 for the rest of 2020 plus "$15,000 essential recruitment incentive for employers to recruit and offer premium pay to fight the public health crisis."

This would apply to healthcare workers, grocery store employees, home care workers, pharmacists, postal workers, and other essential employees.

The term "essential" is where this is going to get muddy - we already agree that the above professions are putting their lives at risk, but who's to say that other people are NOT essential? Either way, we hope that this goes through.
