Michigan Schools Will Receive Money for Security Improvements
Dozens of schools around the state will get a share of $2 million to improve security in their buildings.
The Michigan State Police announced that 25 public school districts, 24 non-public schools and three charter schools are on the list to receive money from grants. The security improvements will benefit more than 62,000 students. State police director Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue says that the grants "will help make security improvements to school buildings that will provide a safer and more secure learning environment."
There were over 84 applications for grants received, totaling over $4.6 million in requests. Some of the schools that will get part of the $2 million include Flushing Community Schools and Holly Area School District. See the full list here.
