Michigan Lawmakers Push Bill to Ban All Pornography
A new proposal in Lansing aims to make Michigan the first state in the nation to outlaw all pornography. It’s a move that’s generating fierce debate over censorship, free speech, and personal freedom.
The bill, introduced by a group of Republican lawmakers, would make the creation, distribution, or possession of pornographic material illegal in Michigan. Supporters argue the measure is meant to protect children and curb what they call the harmful effects of pornography. Opponents, however, say the proposal amounts to government overreach and would almost certainly face legal challenges.
Key Provisions of House Bill 4938
According to FOX 2, House Bill 4938 — dubbed the “Anticorruption of Public Morals Act” — would prohibit the distribution of “real, animated, digitally generated, written, or auditory” depictions of sex acts.
