This is not just a week-long stint, Michigan police will be focusing on speeding drivers until February 28, 2022. Not that you should begin speeding again on March 1, 2022. You should not be speeding period, and yes I do take my own advice. I admit I have been a bit of a lead foot in the past, but not anymore. I don't want a ticket, and I don't want to crash. Two very good reasons to drive the speed limit. If you give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination, you will never have to speed to make it somewhere on time. Two words - common sense.

According to Click On Detroit, this crackdown is due to the number of fatalities on United States roads in 2021. I don't think it is a surprise to any of us that speed is a major factor when it comes to automobile accidents and deaths. I can't even count how many times I have been passed by an a-hole driver going way too fast. Don't even get me started on tailgaters - the worst. I am guilty of brake-checking those clowns, which I know its not the smartest thing to do. I will stop, or at least I will attempt to stop doing it.

Just remember, you are NOT Maverick in Top Gun, you should never feel the need for speed on the roads. Here is to a slow and happy holiday season.
