Michigan Might Become a ‘Space State’ with a Rocket Launch Site
Space nerds, unite!
I haven't been this excited since I realized that Kroger will deliver my groceries - the Oscoda/Wurtsmith Airport may be the site of a new, horizontal launch site for the Michigan Aerospace Manufacturing Association.
It's called the Launch Initiative and they've said that Michigan would be a great place for a mid-America launch site, turning the mitten into a "space state."
The company was considering other sites in Michigan including Chippewa County International Airport, Alpena County Regional Airport and Sawyer International Airport in Marquette.
The announcement is NOT a final decision and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has to approve the site, as "much more work has to be conducted."
I'm ready to be a part of the Space Force, y'all.
