This guy meets the definition of a superhero in a big way! A Michigan power lifter is being credited with saving a man's life after he became pinned under a two-ton SUV.

Ryan Belcher works out regularly, so he's one strong dude. That -- and a certain adrenaline rush -- gave him the strength to lift the jeep off the man who was trapped outside his workplace in Ypsilanti.

"I just lifted and started pushing the vehicle as hard as I could," Belcher tells WXYZ.

Belcher says he heard the accident happen around 4:30 Thursday (2/14) afternoon.

"I just hear a big smash and, as I look out, a crowd of people are coming and this vehicle is flipped upside down and my first instinct was to just take off out there," he said.

He says he knew exactly what he had to do when he saw the man who was pinned under the vehicle.

"Half of his torso was outside of the vehicle and the other half was still underneath in the vehicle. I had no other choice. It was either save a man or not believe in myself. So I just reached in did what I had to do," Belcher said.

Even after the heroic act, Belcher remains humble.

To say I’m a hero, I don’t know. I’m glad to have been there and I was put there for a reason," he said.

Both drivers were treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
