Michigan Man Attempts to Pay Traffic Ticket With Counterfeit Cash
It's probably not a great idea to show up in district court with fake money to pay a traffic ticket.
An Allen Park man did just that, handing a court clerk two counterfeit $50 bills along with three legitimate twenties. The man claimed he had no idea the bills were fake.
When police informed the man that the currency he had presented was counterfeit, he said that he had gotten the bills from a cashbox he shares with his girlfriend at home. He had no idea where the bill had originated.
According to the News-Herald, police discovered that the girlfriend's sister had unknowingly accepted four fake $50 bills as payment for an Apple Watch she had sold online.
The man was able to use plastic to pay his traffic fine.
