If you purchase items on Amazon's massive website, you may start getting those packages delivered even faster than you've come to expect. The online retailer is opening a new delivery center in Sterling Heights, and it's likely to mean more next day deliveries for residents in Southeast Michigan.

Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor is thrilled that the facility will be opening in his city.

“Obviously Sterling Heights represents a significant customer base for Amazon, which certainly influenced their decision to select our city as the site for this delivery station,” Taylor tells WDIV. "But the skilled workforce we enjoy here was also a major contributing factor. Our skilled labor in Southeast Michigan, particularly in Sterling Heights, is second to none. We are delighted Amazon has chosen Sterling Heights as home to one of the first delivery stations in the county.”

The delivery center is expected to open before the end of 2020.
