Here in Michigan we have so many reasons to throw a party. Whether it's for game day, a holiday or just because it's the weekend. Not to mention attending a day or two at events like the Cherry Festival in Traverse City or Cheeseburger in Caseville. But what about the day after indulging all the food and beverages when the alarm goes off and you have to go to work? This Friday new regulations kick in affecting Michigan workers, including a hike in minimum wage. I think we need more benefits.

Michiganders Like to Party

On December 31st, we get to leave each year by enjoying time with friends and family. In some cases we pass out before midnight, in others we swear there are two balls dropping ahead of the calendar change. In most cases, for adults who like to let loose at parties they simply don't remember.

But what about the other drink-worthy holiday scattered throughout the year? Why can't we have a day to recover after St. Patrick's Day or the Fourth of July? In addition to vacation time and sick days, what if Michigan were to adopt Hangover Leave?

A tech company overseas has added something called Hangover Leave and Celebrity Loss Leave to their list of employee benefits. Workers can take time off for not only hangovers, but celebrity news that causes 'emotional distress'. Could you imagine calling in the day after the Superbowl... not because of a hangover, but because Taylor Swift was booed?

Who Came Up with 'Hangover Leave'?

Located in Osaka, Japan, a small company called TrustRing can't keep up with the higher salaries offered by bigger companies. So they offer these unique incentives to attract young new prospects.

Should Michigan adopt something like this for the day after the Detroit Lions win the Superbowl? (We all know it'll happen soon!) Here are the Top 10 holidays for alcohol consumption. Should the days after be considered 'Hangover Leave' in Michigan? After all, the kids get at least 10 snow days off school each year.
