Men Behind Racially-Charged Robocalls in Michigan Ordered to Call Again With Correction

It seems like restitution for victims of a misleading robocall should be something other than another robocall.
We reported about the politically-charged robocalls that were directed at minority voters in the Detroit area and other large US cities in August. (You can hear the content of the misleading calls here.) The men behind those calls, Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl, have been ordered to call the people who received the original calls with a correction.
The calls falsely claimed that anyone who participated in mail-in voting would have their personal information shared with police agencies who could use the information to track down outstanding warrants and credit collection agencies who could use the data for payment-collection purposes. The call went on to insinuate that the Centers for Disease Control could use the data collected to force absentee ballot voters to receive mandatory vaccines.
The voter-intimidation scheme is estimated to have reached about 85,000 households in major cities across Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois.
The pair have been ordered by the US District Court in the Southern District of New York to issue the correction and now face multiple counts of election-law and voter intimidation violations in multiple states, including Michigan.
The correction states:
“At the direction of a United States district court, this call is intended to inform you that a federal court has found that the message you previously received regarding mail-in voting from Project 1599, a political organization founded by Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl, contained false information that has had the effect of intimidating voters, and thus interfering with the upcoming presidential election, in violation of federal voting-rights laws.”
