Michigan Remembers Our Fallen On Memorial Day

But on Memorial Day, we as Americans all come together to honor the men and women who gave their lives to defend our freedom.

It's a heavy burden for those in active duty to follow in the footsteps of their fallen brothers and sisters. But it's because of the countless sacrifices that these brave individuals have made that secures the freedoms that many of us take for granted.

Memorial Day Is The Unofficial First Day Of Summer

In addition to being able to celebrate those who lost their lives to defend the United States of America, Memorial Day has also become the unofficial start of Summer. While some states have nice weather year-round, some of us in the northern United States really love this chance to celebrate our fallen military while also wearing shorts and flip-flops.

This is especially true in Michigan when temperatures finally tend to stay above freezing and we can all comfortably get together for parades, fireworks and other celebrations to honor our fallen brethren. Where And When Will The Mid-Michigan Memorial Day Celebrations Take Place?

Throughout Genesee, Shiawassee and Saginaw Counties we found 17 celebrations happening over the course of Memorial Day Weekend. I am thrilled to be hosting the Burton Memorial Day Parade for the third year. But there are celebrations happening all over Mid-Michigan.
