My first thought is, my god that must really hurt, but as it turns out, human skin is pretty resilient.

Just ask 34-year-old Zane Whitmore, who was suspended from a hot air balloon over California’s Long Valley Caldera by a series of ropes attached to four piercings in his back. (If that wasn’t scary enough, he did it for 75 minutes.) Watch the video and read more after the jump.No, this wasn’t some form of torture.  Rather,  it was part of a documentary called ‘Feet Off the Ground,’ which is described by its producers as a “culmination of several years of immersing ourselves in the body modification and suspension communities.”

As you can see from the video below, Whitmore doesn’t appear to be in any kind of pain, and seems to be enjoying the view.  Nevertheless, we’re still going to slap on a “don’t try this at home” disclaimer.
