A man is in custody after stealing an ambulance yesterday in Detroit. The suspect took the vehicle on a wild ride down I-75 before crashing it near 8-mile and I-75.

The incident began yesterday (11/10) when the 31-year-old man stole the EMS vehicle from the fire station near the Eastern Market and crashed through the door as he left the facility.

Police were able to track the man's moves using the vehicle's built-in tracking equipment.

According to WDIV, the ambulance sustained heavy damage in the incident. It contains high-end life-saving equipment and is valued at approximately $250,000.
