Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel Delays Opening

Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island is pushing back the opening date for its 134th season again amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grand Hotel is now slated to open it's doors on June 21st. The iconic tourist destination was originally scheduled to kick off heir 2020 season on May 1st, but moved the opening to May 22nd. Guests who had reservations between May 1 and May 22 will receive full refunds.

The hotel said on their website, "We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and will continue to update our cleaning and safety protocols as mandated by local, state and federal government agencies." They went on to assure guests that their safety is a priority when it comes to reopening the resort.

"Your safety and security are our highest priority. We remain vigilant to ensure a healthy and clean environment.
We have a comprehensive plan in place address the spread of COVID-19 and are strictly following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) alongside local government authorities.
In addition to the high cleanliness standards already in place, to combat the spread of COVID-19, we have taken additional precautionary measures"

More than 150,000 overnight guests stay at Grand Hotel each season, while more than 1 million people visit Mackinac Island each year. Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan opened its doors for the first time to guests in 1887.
