Detroit is synonymous with music, and there is a really cool way to experience  the birthplace of Motown.

A Motown-themed house  available to rent on AirBnb right in the heart of the action. The renovated house, located on West Grand Boulevard, is just steps away from the Motown museum Hitsville, U.S.A. and the perfect place a unique getaway.

The 5000+ sq foot duplex features seven bedrooms, four bathrooms and can sleep up to 16 people. Each room is uniquely decorated with special photos, art and memorabilia from the legendary Motown days. Rooms are  named after Motown superstars such  Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, and more with their inspiration part of the decor.

Each of the four floors features a working 1963 Wurlitzer Juke box filled with various Detroit artists. There is even a dance floor made of classic Motown vinyl if the mood strikes you to break out your best moves. It also features a finished basement, a large second floor balcony and gated backyard outdoor space which makes it perfect for family reunions or special nights in the city.

The Motown Airbnb is the passion project of owner David King, who was born and raised in Detroit, and bought the property in 2015 for $48,000. The home was originally built in 1911, and King has kept much of its original wood workings and resurfaced wood floors. King estimated that property had been abandoned for about 15 years and was in rough shape when he bought it. He knew he wanted to do something special with it through the renovations.

“There’s got to be something more I can offer to share that experience,” King thought at the time. “What if we turn it into an Airbnb, where we could offer not just a place to stay, but also an experience of the things that made Detroit and Motown famous?”

The Motown Airbnb rents for around $800 a night with a two night minimum.
