A 36-year-old Lansing man was found dead in the back of a garbage truck near Williamston this past Friday.

According to the Lansing State Journal, police said the body was discovered in the compactor compartment of a Waste Management truck after the driver arrived at a waste transfer facility near Williamston.

I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what happened because police say surveillance video leads them to believe the death was accidental. There isn't a lot of information detailing what happened or even what might have happened.

The man's body was discovered while an employee was tipping a trash load at a facility in Williamstown Township. His name was Matthew Haack and he was from Lansing. For the most part, that's all that's known about the incident.

The facility was shut down for a few hours on Friday but by 2:45 pm, it was cleared to resume normal operations.

I'm so curious to know why they believe it was an accident. What exactly did they see on those surveillance cameras? The whole thing just seems very strange to me. This is one story I will keep you posted on because there are still so many questions to be answered.
