Update 9/14/23: Lightning Rounds is the name of the new restaurant opening on Lake Neppesing Road in Lapeer.

The name represents aggressive specials that the restaurant will certainly become known for. For more on Lightning Rounds, check out the video below. Congrats again to owner Patrick Hingst and his entire staff.

Rumors have been swirling throughout Lapeer County about this purchase, and Woodchips BBQ owner Patrick Hingst made the announcement today via social media.

A name for the new spot has not been announced, but according to Hingst, this new restaurant will not be branded under the Woodchips BBQ moniker.

What was confirmed is the fact that the place will be accessible for all of Lapeer County (and points beyond), in terms of pricing. The plan is to offer A la carte items to customers at a price point of $5 or less. How awesome is that?

Patrick Hingst and his crew are working on renovations that include new paint and new equipment in the building, located at 266 Lake Nepessing Road in Lapeer.

Since opening Woodchips BBQ in downtown Lapeer almost 10 years ago, Patrick Hingst and his awesome team have continued to build the community with events including the annual Woodchips Freedom Fest.

Hingst did confirm via his video announcement (see below) that entertainment will be a part of this venture as well as job opportunities. Once a business name and launch date are announced, I will update this article.

Congratulations to Patrick Hingst and his entire crew on this awesome new adventure.
