Beloved Upper Peninsula Bar and Grill Burns to the Ground

This one hurts.

Snow’s Bar & Grill in Cedarville, one of my favorite hidden gems in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, burned to the ground Wednesday morning.

I stumbled across Snow’s while bar hopping with friends in the U.P. a few years ago and instantly fell in love with the place. It had everything you wanted from an up north bar: a cozy atmosphere, great food, friendly people, and some of the coolest Sasquatch merch around. I’m so glad I bought a shirt that day.

And those deep-fried mushrooms. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: they may have been the best on the planet.

Fire Destroys Snow’s Bar & Grill in Cedarville

According to SooLeader, the fire was reported around 9:40 Wednesday morning. Fire crews from Clark Township, Pickford, DeTour, and St. Ignace all responded, but by the time they arrived, the building was already covered in flames.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Snow’s Bar & Grill Served Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for Over 80 Years

Snow’s wasn’t just another bar and grill. The Cedarville landmark had been part of the community since the early 1940s, roughly 85 years.

To people who had never been there, Snow’s probably looked like another small bar in the middle of nowhere. Once you stepped inside, though, you understood why people loved it so much.
