Another Michigan City Considers Banning E-Bikes
What Michigan City Is Considering an E-Bike Ban?

That would be Berkley.
According to Fox 2 Detroit, city leaders are looking at a proposal that could put some pretty strict limits on e-bikes, mainly because of how fast they can go and what can happen when someone loses control. I mean, it was probably only a matter of time before cities started looking at this.
Some e-bikes can hit 20 to 30 miles per hour. That’s pretty fast when you’re talking about someone cruising down a sidewalk around people walking, kids, dogs, and other bikes.

Under the proposal, e-bikes could be banned from sidewalks and parks. E-bikes, scooters, and skateboards could also face restrictions in the downtown area.
There could be some age restrictions too, with riders generally needing to be at least 14 years old depending on the type of e-bike.
Other Michigan Cities Are Already Cracking Down

Berkley wouldn't be the first.
Dearborn Heights and Grosse Pointe Woods have already banned e-bikes on city property, while South Lyon doesn't allow them on downtown sidewalks.
So far, we haven't seen communities in Genesee County make the same kind of move, but with more Metro Detroit cities putting restrictions in place, you have to wonder if it's only a matter of time.
