Inside Flint’s Abandoned Swanson Funeral Home – 2017 VS. 2021
Check out this video from inside the abandoned Swanson Funeral Home in Flint, MI.
Over the last five-plus years, Swanson Funeral Home in Flint has been in the news on several occasions. None of those occasions have been for good reasons. Swanson Funeral Home was forcibly shut down by the state back in 2017 and that is just the beginning of the story.
This funeral home on Martin Luther King Avenue in Flint was shut down by officials from the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in July 2017. Some of the problems that caused them to be shut down included maggots on the premise, unrefrigerated bodies being stored for months, an overwhelming smell of decomposition, and more.
After being initially shut down in 2017, our friend from Abandoned Central on YouTube and Detroit Unseen on Facebook was able to get inside and check the building out. Four years later he went back to explore the building some more in 2021. I was blown away at how it looks after sitting abandoned for just four years. The hearse has definitely seen better days.
The story of the Swanson Funeral Home doesn't end there either. Another group of people made their way inside the abandoned building earlier this year and found a body that was crushed to death by the hydraulic coffin lift. Keep an eye on the time in the video and you will see the lift in question at about the 12:48 marker.
Big thanks to Bob at Abandoned Central for capturing this footage.
