4 Roads in Genesee County Will Close This Week for Repairs
It feels like road closures have become a regular part of life in Genesee County this time of year. This week, four more roads are closing for repair work.
The Genesee County Road Commission says four roads will be closed to through traffic beginning Tuesday, July 14, as crews kick off this year's chip seal program.
If you normally drive through any of these areas, expect a few headaches and maybe give yourself a little extra time.
What Is Chip Seal Road Repair?

You've definitely seen chip sealing before; you probably just didn't know that's what it was called. It's when crews spray a layer of liquid asphalt on the road, cover it with small stone chips, and then roll everything into place.

Think of it like putting a giant Band-Aid on the road. Instead of tearing everything up and starting over, it helps protect the existing pavement and extend its life for a fraction of the cost.
Which Genesee County Roads Will Be Closed?
The following roads are scheduled to close beginning Tuesday, July 14:
- Bray Road between Coldwater Road and Mt. Morris Road
- Crosby Road between Center Road and Genesee Road
- Carpenter Road between Belsay Road and Vassar Road
- Stanley Road between M-15 and Oak Road
Sure, it'll be a pain for a few days, but you'll probably be glad they did it once the work's finished.
