A Swartz Creek man has been arrested after plowing through a Consumer Energy construction site on Dort Highway in Flint.

The unidentified 22-year-old driver ran a red light and drove through the intersection of Dort Highway and Atherton Road, which is currently closed due to the construction project.

According to ABC 12, a police officer attempted to pull over the vehicle after it ran the red light.

As you will see in the video below, the car was traveling at a high speed. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll. There was one passenger in the car, and surprisingly, neither of them was injured.

However, the driver was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence.

Social media was quick to post additional videos of the incident when it occurred on Monday, March 24th, 2026, at roughly 8:00 PM.

Please be aware that the intersection of Dort Highway and Atherton Road will remain closed until April 24, 2026, due to ongoing construction. While traffic on Atherton Road will still be able to pass through the area, Dort Highway will remain completely closed during the project.

Check the post below from The Machine Shop for alternative routes around the closure.

If you are traveling near Dort Highway and Atherton Road, give yourself extra time and follow the posted detours. Stay safe out there - speeding through a construction zone or anywhere for that matter, is never worth the risk.
