Expect Major Delays on Bristol Road For the Next Five Months
If you’ve driven along Bristol Road in Burton or Flint Township, you’ve probably already seen Consumers Energy working on replacing a six-inch natural gas pipeline. It’s a major project that’s going to last throughout the summer, with five long months of construction along Bristol Road.
If you're thinking, "Ugh, not again," you're not alone. It wasn’t that long ago that construction crews had Bristol Road torn up in both the east and west lanes. Well, get ready for some serious déjà vu.
Yup, it's construction season in Michigan.
According to ABC 12, the project is all about upgrading the old steel pipeline along Bristol Road from the east side of Dort Highway in Burton to VanSlyke Road in Flint Township with more durable plastic.
Bristol Road won’t be completely shut down, but expect occasional lane closures that could lead to major delays. The biggest headache will likely be around Bristol Road and Fenton, where things can already get pretty congested.

It’s pretty hard to avoid construction in Genesee County this time of year, or honestly, anywhere in Michigan. Whether you’re heading to work or just running errands, you really need to plan your route. If you don’t, you might end up taking a detour or getting stuck in traffic for way too long.

A lot of the work happening this summer is much needed, so just be patient and try not to complain too much about it.
