
100 Best Public School Systems in U.S. Revealed: 3 Are in Michigan
A new ranking of the 100 best public schools in the United States reveals three of the systems are in Michigan.
The results come from Niche, a website which regularly reviews and ranks communities, schools and colleges all over the nation using a wide range of criteria.
How Niche Ranks America’s Public Schools
As you might expect, each school system's academic performance is considered, but so are its teachers, administration, and facilities. School systems' athletic programs are taken into account, as are the amount of clubs and activities available, the system's diversity, and even the quality of its food offerings.

Nationwide, Niche evaluated the public school systems in more than 12,000 places. That means that the three Michigan school systems that landed among the 100 best are in the top 1% in the country. All three of them are within the Detroit metropolitan area.
Michigan’s Top-Performing School Systems
Schools in Bloomfield Hills rank as the 21st best in the nation. The system's International Academy ranks as the top public high school in the entire state of Michigan, and its North Hills Middle School is within the top 10 middle schools.
Just down the road, the Birmingham Public School District ranks as 59th best in the entire nation. Its Troy High School, Wylie E. Groves High School, and Ernest W. Seaholm High School rank among the best in the state.
Finally, Northville Public Schools rank 73rd in the nation. Northville High regularly rates among the state's top 10 when it comes to college prep and STEM education.
