Nothing says fall quite like a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. This specialty drink is available for a limited time and has become a chilly weather favorite. The popularity of the drink is causing a bit of a supply versus demand problem, though.  Is America heading for a Pumpkin Spice Latte shortage?

For whatever reason, the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is enjoying a huge dose of popularity this season. That popularity is causing a shortage of the pumpkin sauce, which is used to make the hot beverage, in quite a few areas of the country.

Fans of the pumpkin flavored beverage become very upset when faced with the shortage. Cynthia Smalls, a barista for Starbucks says "They go crazy. The first day we found we had a shortage, forget it." She was amazed. Her response to her upset customers? "You guys do know it's just a drink, right?"

In desperation, Pumpkin Spice Latte super fans are scooping up boxes of Starbucks instant version of the latte, and even that is becoming hard to find.
