A man who was ice fishing on a Muskegon lake discovered more than fish. He found a car that had been stolen back in 2020.

The man saw the car on a camera he had been using for ice fishing near Heritage Landing on Muskegon Lake. Police tell WOOD-TV that a vehicle was about 13 feet under the water.

Investigators discovered that the vehicle had been stolen in 2020 but determined that the submerged car was empty and don't believe anyone was injured or killed when the vehicle went into the water.

Police tell the TV station that they will have to wait until weather conditions improve before trying to retrieve the vehicle from the water.
