A construction project intended to widen an 18-mile stretch of I-75 near Detroit is expected to be completed about 10 years sooner than expected.

Reports indicate that work on I-75 between Ferndale and Pontiac could be completed as soon as 2020, under a new construction model. MDOT spokesman Rob Morosi says motorists should expect larger work zones, but they may be in place for less time overall.
