Huge Local Career Expo Looks to Match Employers & Job Seekers
Time to polish up those resumes, because one the largest in-person career expos in the area is about to happen.
The Dort Financial Center will be the site of one of the biggest job fairs to happen in quite some time.The Flint & Genesee Group, in partnership with the City of Flint and the Fenton Regional Chamber of Commerce to host the Genesee County Career Expo. The event is designed to help employers find works, and job seekers find a job.
Set to be the largest in-person job fair in the region, organizers have already registered more than 30 employers representing a about 650+ job openings for the big event.
“There are nearly 15,000 people who are actively seeking employment in Genesee County – and that’s not even including those who are underemployed or looking for a career change,” said Brianna Mosier, director of Organizational Development at the Flint & Genesee Group. said in a press release. “At the same time, we know there are thousands of job opportunities available through our local businesses and organizations. Our goal is to help bridge that gap.”
If you are looking for a new job, this event it exactly what you have been waiting for. The Genesee County Career Expo will take place on September 16th and run from 1pm to 5pm. Job seekers will find employers from such businesses as Ascension, Ashley HomeStore, Hamilton Community Health Network, Hurley Medical Center, Lear Corporation, Mac Pizza, just to name a few.
More Than Just Jobs
In addition, the job fair will also focus on resources available through community agencies that can help address common barriers to employment, including childcare and health issues. There will also be everything from vaccinations to complimentary haircuts will be available to job seekers during the event.
Organizers recommend that applicants register by Tuesday, September 14th at flintandgenesee.org/jobfair, but walk-ins are welcome. Employers still have time to be part of the expo as well by signing up by completing the form at flintandgenesee.org/careerexpo before September 10th.
