As the country mourns the demise of Hostess, the iconic company that announced on Friday it was halting production, and closing its doors, we thought we'd take a look at a few sweet Twinkies TV commercials that we've all enjoyed through the years.

And by the way, if you're racing from store to store, buying up every box of cream-filled goodness in sight, anticipating a Twinkies drought, relax. In the acquisition-happy world of big business, the Twinkies, Ho-Hos, Ring Dings, and other sweet brands will likely be gobbled up quickly by some corporate conglomerate, ready to swoop in and resurrect deliciousness. But I suppose if you find someone willing to pay a 'sweet' price for your stockpile on eBay, you should go for it.

Twinkies TV spots date back to the 1950s, when they signed on as a sponsor of the 'Howdy Doody' show. Twinkie the Kid began appearing on packaging, in TV commercials, and as collectible merchandise. He helped engrave Twinkies' slogan "The snacks with a snack in the middle" on the minds of the first television generation.

Here's a look at a few of our favorite Twinkies commercials through the years:

1950s Howdy Doody

1970s Twinkie the Kid

1980 When I say "Yes," It's Hostess

1985 Twinkie the Kid

1996 Bear vs. Trailer

2002 Buzzards
