It's the most wonderful time of the year. Okay, maybe not quite yet - but it will be.

The holiday season brings many traditions year after year, and one annual event for many families is Winterfest in downtown Lapeer. This fun-filled event features Santa Claus, a parade, and holiday performances throughout the downtown Lapeer area.

I have to admit one of my most favorite things about events downtown is the many choices we have when it comes to eating and drinking. We are definitely lucky to have so many great bars and restaurants to warm up in and enjoy a great meal (and cocktail) during Winterfest.

If you have never attended Winterfest, I have all the fun details on the event.

When is Winterfest?

Winterfest is a two-day event - Friday, December 3rd, and Saturday, December 4th.

When is the parade?

The holiday parade happens Friday, December 3rd at 6:00 PM.

What time is the annual tree lighting on the Lapeer County Historical Courthouse lawn?

The tree lighting will be at 7:00 PM. Plan on singing a few Christmas carols before the tree lighting countdown.

Can my kid(s) visit Santa Claus?

Of course. Santa Claus House will be set up in the downtown Lapeer area immediately following the holiday parade. Your child can see Santa Claus on Friday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM (or until the last child is seen, must be in line by 8:30).

On Saturday, December 4th, Santa Claus will be set up at Stones Throw Theater (next to Beyer’s Furniture - 441 W Nepessing Street) from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Every child will receive a candy cane and pictures with Santa Claus are available for a fee.

Santa Claus will be back at Stones Throw Theater on the following dates as well,

  • Saturday, December 11th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Saturday, December 18th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Will businesses be open for holiday shopping?

Yes! I definitely encourage you to shop locally. There are many great shops downtown Lapeer to explore.

I look forward to seeing you downtown Lapeer for Winterfest 2021. If you don't see me on the street, I think you know where to find me. Just check one of the following establishments,
