You could soon be driving faster on 1,500 miles of roadway in Michigan.

Gov. Rick Snyder had approved legislation that allows speed limits to be increased on 1,500 miles of roadway in Michigan. In the bill that Snyder passed Thursday, 600 miles of freeway will see a speed limit increase to 75 mph, while 900 miles of other roads will see an increase to 65 mph. Before any speed limits are raised, the roads must pass a safety study. If the roads pass the safety study, the limits will be raised within a year.
