Braces for $300? If it sounds like it's too good to be true, it's because it is too good to be true.

The state is investigating a Detroit woman who has allegedly been performing dental procedures -- including putting on braces -- in her home.

A producer for Detroit TV station WDIV recorded the woman using a hidden camera.

"You've got to get the whole thing done," the woman said. "Your teeth will be straight in two months," she told the man as they spoke on her porch.

After expressing some concern, he then asked the woman, who says her name is Latoya Michaels, if she is licensed. "Yes, I'm licensed," the woman said.

But the TV station was not able to find any evidence that she's licensed as a dentist, orthodontist or hygienist.

Officials with the State Licensing Department and the Michigan Dental Association are conducting an investigation.
