A Northern Michigan man, who lay paralyzed outside his home for 20 hours, is thanking his faithful companion Kelsey for keeping him alive.

The Emmet County man went outside to get a log for the fire on New Year's Eve. He slipped and fell, which resulted in a broken neck. He called for help, but was unable to get the attention of a neighbor until the next day.

His dog Kelsey came to the rescue, lying on top of him the entire time in order to keep him warm.

9 & 10 News reports that the man is recovering at a Petoskey hospital.
