Heating Assistance Available for Michigan Residents
Like it or not, cooler weather is coming and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is offering assistance to Michigan residents who may need help paying their heating bills.
Reports indicate that some people may be under the impression that they can only apply for assistance online but paper applications are being accepted as well.
“People who need help paying their energy bills can apply online at www.michigan.gov/mibridges or pick up paper applications at their local MDHHS office,” Terrence Beurer, deputy director for field operations administration tells WNEM.
Beurer goes on to say that anyone applying for assistance can use the MDHHS application to apply for both the Michigan Energy Assistance Program and State Emergency Relief.
There's one more piece of good news. Low-income residents are now able to apply for assistance year-round rather than just during the cold-weather season.
Anyone with questions should contact the Michigan Department of Health and Human Servies online at www.michigan.gov/mdhhs or visit the local MDHHS office.
