We as Michigander's already knew it, but now the whole world does. The Great Lakes has been named one of the best places to travel in 2020, according to Travel + Leisure.

The travel magazine just released their annual list of the 50 best places to visit, and the Great Lakes found itself landing in spot number 22 nestled between Guyana and Instanbul. The magazine notes that the Great Lakes are a top cruise destination, believe it or not, noting the five lakes collectively offer 11,000 miles of beautiful shoreline. The list goes on to mention Mackinaw Island and the beautiful hotels as well as the breathtaking Upper Peninsula.

For those interested in exploring by water,  there are two-week Great Lakes trip to its roster, taking visitors from Chicago to Montréal on Blount Small Ship Adventures. If you are looking for a bit more luxury check out the Ponant cruise line that launched just this year with voyages from Québec to Milwaukee by way of the lakes.

Just more reasons why we love our Mitten state.
