It's called "Futures for Frontliners."

Yesterday, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced Futures for Frontliners, a program that would provide free college tuition to frontline and essential workers who do not yet have one.

The program will be available for healthcare workers, grocery store employees, child care providers, sanitation workers, and delivery people.

Whitmer compared it to the GI Bill, saying in a statement that when "Americans put their lives on the line to defend the rest of us from a foreign enemy, we have shown our gratitude by giving them educational opportunities to improve their lives."

The program would allow essential workers to get free tuition on their way to earning a technical certificate, associate's degree, or a bachelor's degree.
