‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Gets Its Own LEGO Set, Reveals First Look at New Ghost
With the exception of those new photos the other day, we haven’t seen much on director Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. While most summer movies have at least provided a teaser trailer by now, we still don’t know much about this new ghost busting adventure. That may change a little bit today. We still don’t have a trailer (Feig says that’s coming at the end of this month), but we do have images of the new LEGO Ghostbusters set, which includes our first look at the film’s new ghostly monster, as well as Chris Hemsworth’s character, Kevin, leaping into action.
For the most part, the LEGO Ghostbusters set is fairly standard and similar to the existing ECTO-1 kit; it includes the new ECTO-1, plus each of our four new Ghostbusters, as played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. But, in addition to those minifigs, you also get a red, demon-like ghost, which looks like it’ll be the Gozer for a new generation.
Also, you can see that Hemsworth’s secretary has left the headquarters and raced into action on ECTO-2, a Ghostbusters motorcycle, but if you look closely at his eyes, you can see that they’re an eerie red (the rest of the characters have traditional black LEGO eyes), indicating he might have gotten himself possessed by our demon friend.
No word yet on retail price, but this LEGO set is expected to go on sale later this summer. If you absolutely can’t wait that long, you can always by the traditional Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters set (though that will set you back a cool $350).
Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. Get ready to watch them save the world this summer!
Ghostbusters opens in theaters on July 15.
