Fun Runs Are Fun, No Really, They Are
First, let me say that, I hate running. I really do, but I think I might be hooked on being active these days and I'm good with that.
You may think that being active is a huge chore or maybe you just feel like there is no way I will be able to do that! I am living proof that you can find something that moves your booty and still have fun.
Case and point, I hate running. I get on the treadmill and huff and puff my way through it and hope that my legs and back don't give out. I would much rather be skating with my roller derby team, Demolitia Derby Queens. Well, that was until my friend introduced me to "fun runs". Now, you are probably thinking exactly what I was thinking when I heard the phrase, "fun run". You are not suppose to put "fun' next to "run" at any point. I, begrudgingly, took a chance and signed up for a "fun run" to support my friend because I didn't want her to go alone. There was not a ton of running, but obstacles to climb and conquer. I really liked the sense of accomplishment after doing this and felt stronger. I was hooked!
Before I knew it, I was signing up for the Mud Factor and the Warrior Dash because I found that are obstacles are my "thing". I may not be the fastest, but I love the challenge. So, I have done two fun runs so far this year, and I have signed up for a Zombie run in the fall. I am looking forward to doing many more of these "fun runs', as many as I can do.
If you take anything from this, note that I am, in no means in tip top shape. But, I love the sense of accomplishment these runs provide. If you ever thought of doing one, do it! I promise you will understand why "fun" and "run" can go together.
