Dog Attacks Michigan Woman on Toilet After Being Fed THC Gummy

A Northern Michigan woman was nearly killed by her own dog after she fed the animal a THC-infused gummy in an attempt to calm it down.

Woman Attacked While Sitting on the Toilet

The incident occurred earlier this month at a home Gaylord, in Otsego County. The woman, whose name has not been released, says she was sitting on the toilet at the time of the attack. The woman tells authorities that the attack lasted for nearly an hour before she was able to lock herself in a bedroom "and leave the dog running [the rest of] the house."

She then called 911 to report the attack. Rescue personnel found her lying face up on her bed, covered in blood.

Melissa FitzGerald is one of the animal control officers who arrived on the scene

"I witnessed the victim laying face up on the bed covered in blood," FitzGerald said. "The room was semi-dark but I could see an extreme amount of blood on the bed as well as the walls and floor. The victim said she could not get up."

 

Dog Had Been Given a THC Gummy

The victim had been the dog's owner for about two years at the time of the attack. She had given the 82-pound animal named Blau a gummy laced with THC because he had seemed stressed. The woman hoped the gummy would have a calming effect on the dog.

According to the New York Post, the victim's father had purchased the gummies for the dog because his daughter was going through a divorce.

Dogs Should Not be Given THC Products

According to the American Kennel Club THC is considered a poisonous substance for dogs. It can cause a varying range of reactions in canines, including lethargy, vomiting, and extreme agitation.

FitzGerald reiterated to Fox TV that pets should not be given any medication that is not prescribed by a veterinarian.

Reports indicate that the dog was euthanized 11 days after the attack.
