Docs Assist With Surprise Marriage Proposal at Saginaw Hospital [VIDEO]
Todd and Amanda are engaged, thanks to a little help from their coworkers at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw.
The couple met when they worked together during Amanda Allen's first year of residency. Todd Whittaker, who now works in Toledo, felt that a surprise proposal in the OR would be a fitting way to pop the question.
Allen's coworkers invited her to take a look into a a high-tech medical instrument that ordinarily allows surgeons to see high definition images of the tissues or instruments in surgical procedures. But what Allen saw was "an open jewelry box with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen, and a hand holding the box,” she tells the Midland Daily News.
At first, Allen couldn't believe her eyes.
“As I looked in and saw the ring I thought ‘I must be dreaming, or maybe I’m delusional and this is just wishful thinking.’ As a resident we sleep very little sometimes, so I thought maybe I’m just tired and my eyes are playing tricks on me. As I looked again though and saw that the ring was still there and I realized it wasn’t a figment of my imagination, I was ecstatic."
