If you're planning on Bringing Back the 80s this weekend -- you better know how to 80s. If you still haven't pinned down your look, don't panic. We've got some ideas for you.

The hardest, and most important, part of any 80s party is finding the right look. There were so many outrageous trends and fashions in the 1980s, that choosing just one to rock can be challenging. The good news is that your look boils down to two basic elements -- your clothes and your hair. Let's address each one separately.

STEP 1: Get Some 80s Clothes

No, you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars ordering stuff online to look legit 80s. You can, but there are much easier and more affordable options. If you're a lady, many stores now offer cheap 80s accessories and even bright 80s colors are appearing back on shelves. Accessories can really put your look over the top, so pay attention to detail. For guys -- it's a little more difficult to go full 80s, but not impossible. Dudes just don't have as many options readily available at stores.

Both men and women can often find something at a thrift store that can be modified to look era-appropriate, which is both cheap and easy... and, sometimes, actually from the 80s. However, thrift shopping will take longer than online, especially if you're an unusual size -- take it from a guy who's 6'4" and can't even find new clothes in stores that are the right size.

Now that you know how to find 80s clothes, you need to know what 80s clothes to find. Check out this montage of popular 80s looks for some inspiration, pick a look, and get out to the thrift store! You might even get lucky and see something you or your parents already have buried in a closet somewhere. Make sure you pay attention to the small details -- those always put your 80s look over the top if you get them right.

STEP 2: 1980s Your Hair

It seems like a minor thing, but the ridiculous-looking hairstyles of the decade are probably the thing most identifiable as 1980s. If you get it right -- your look will scream 80s. If not, well... there's always next time. If the clothes you picked don't call for a specific hairstyle (some do), then you can mix and match. Check out these 80s hairstyles and see which one you can make work for you. Most of them require aqua net, and don't forget that temporary flourescent hair spray is a thing now. If all this seems too hard, you could always run to Party City or Dollar & Party and find a 80s looking costume wig... yes, even in the off-season.

Step 3: Let's Party!

If you're hosting an 80s party, there are like a dozen more steps to make that work, but luckily for you there's an 80s Party all ready to go happening this weekend in Frankenmuth. Just get your 80s look together, or come as you are (but it's funner the first way) to the Bringin' Back the 80s Festival in Frankenmuth Friday, April 22nd from 6p-midnight and Saturday, April 23rd from 4p-midnight.
