Dick's Sporting Goods, one of the nation's largest outdoor retailers, announced today that it will ban the sale of assault-style rifles and no longer sell firearms to people under 21 years of age.

Dick's chairman and CEO Edward Stack told Good Morning America that the new policy goes into effect today.

"Based on what’s happened and looking at those kids and those parents, it moved us all unimaginably," Stack said, citing the February 14th school shooting in Parkland, Florida. "To think about the loss and the grief that those kids and those parents had, we said, ‘We need to do something,' and we’re taking these guns out of all of our stores permanently."

While supporters of the move were vocal on social media following the announcement, others called the move a shameless ploy for publicity. What do you think? Is Dick's new policy a step in the right direction, or too little too late?
