Conan O’Brien Urges ‘Michiginders’ to Go Out and Vote [VIDEO]
Talk show host Conan O'Brien is urging those of us who live in the Mitten State to cast our votes on election day in a video chock full of Michigan references. It appears that many people who have weighed in in the comments section don't get it: Calling us 'Michiginders' is a joke.
Team Coco has produced several public-service type videos directed at voters in key swing states like Wisconsin, North Carolina, Arizona, and now Michigan.
"I was born in Brookline, Massachusettes," Conan begins. "But in my heart, I've always been a Michiginder."
Conan dons a Detroit Tigers hat as he begins tossing out Michigan references.
"What can I say, I love my donuts from Dilla's and my beer from Bell's."
Dilla's is a reference to Dilla's Delights, a popular bakery in the Detroit area. Bell's, of course, is arguably the most well-known brewer of craft beer in Michigan. We think a Flint reference to Donna's Donuts was a missed opportunity, but we're a little biased. Although we do give him credit for not mentioning Flint water.
O'Brien goes on to urge the people in Michigan to vote in the upcoming presidential election on November 3 and sneaks in the most-Michigan of all Michigan references.
"If you like democracy but you don't vote, you're not playing Euchre with a full deck."
Again, as Michiginders, err Michiganders, we realize the disconnect in the Euchre reference, but we'll let that slide.
And the subtle jab at Ohio is icing on the cake.
