It's About Time! Chick-fil-A Sets Opening Date for Flint Township

Genesee County is about to get its first Chick-fil-A restaurant and the fast-food chain has finally announced an opening date for its Miller Rd. location in Flint Township.

Chick-fil-A will be open for business at 3140 Miller Rd. on Thursday, September 28, 2023, according to Mlive.

Doesn't it seem like we've been waiting forever? Maybe not forever, but certainly for more than a year. Chick-fil-A finalized its agreement with Flint Township in July of last year, after working with Chick-fil-A for years to try to bring a location to the area.

Goodbye to Sonic

The restaurant is located on Miller Rd. in the former Sonic location between Austins Parkway and Ballenger Highway. The old Sonic building was leveled in March of this year to make way for the new restaurant.

Nothing against Sonic (Mmmmm, Tater Tots!), but Chick-fil-A was recently named America's favorite restaurant for the eighth year in a row by the American Customer Satisfaction Index.

Chick-fil-A announced last month that it would be hiring approximately 120 full and part-time employees for the Flint Township location.

The First in Genesee County

Chick-fil-A currently has 27 locations in Michigan and has plans to open additional stores in the Detroit area over the next few years.

Don't be surprised if you run into a traffic nightmare near the new location, especially in the first few weeks after the restaurant opens. The highly-anticipated Chick-fil-A grand opening is expected to be very well received and should attract hundreds of customers each day.

Remember the traffic on Corunna Rd. when White Castle opened its Flint location in 2005? We're likely in for a repeat.
