Holly Michigan tops SmartAsset's ranking of Michigan's most-affordable cities to live in, while Burton ranks eighth.

Factors such as closing costs, property taxes, mortgage rates, and property taxes were combined with median income to determine each cities' affordability index.

Holly ranks 64 nationally, with property taxes averaging $2,395 per year. Burton comes in at number 170 nationally with average yearly property taxes of just $1,685. Although cost of home ownership is considerably cheaper in Burton, Holly's median income of $57,000 is nearly $15,000 more than Burton's $42,000 average annual salary, driving affordability rates up in the Oakland County village.
