Bars & Restaurants Begin to Reopen Up North, Here’s What it Looks Like [VIDEO]

At 12:01 this morning, bars and restaurants in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula were allowed to welcome guests inside for the first time in more than two months.

Of course, there were -- and will be for quite some time -- some restrictions.

• Patrons are required to wear masks as they enter, but can remove them once they are seated.
• Waitstaff and kitchen staff will be required to wear masks.
• Establishments can only operate at 50% capacity.
• Tables must be spaced six feet apart in order to abide by social distancing guidelines.

One bar in Northern Michigan is implementing an additional rule that puts restrictions on who can come in.

A sign at Brady's Bar in Traverse City reads:  "If you're not from the Northern Michigan Region, DO NOT ENTER."

“We have flattened the curve. This area has worked super hard and we’ve had what? 23 cases total I think," owner Nolen Sleder tells Up North Live. "We’ve worked that hard we deserve to feel safe and I would like to keep my staff and customers as safe as I can and I’m asking that people from downstate don’t come in until they’re quarantined or their areas are also opened up."

The bar is also asking that customers police themselves, doing everything they can to observe proper social distancing guidelines.
