An armed bystander shot a gunman who opened fire in a crowded Florida park that was hosting a back-to-school event on Saturday. (8/4)

Fox News Florida reports that the man was involved in a fistfight at the event and then left. He returned to the park with a gun and began to open fire on the crowd. Over 100 people, including children, were present at the event.

Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson of the Titusville Police Department expressed his gratitude in a statement.

“We are extremely grateful that nobody else was injured in this incident,” said. “This suspect opened fire at a crowded public park. This could have been so much worse.”

The bystander, who was fully licensed to carry a gun, shot the man. The gunman was the only person shot at the event. He was taken to an area hospital with injuries that are considered life-threatening.
